The Ruddy-breasted Crake is a secretive wetland bird belonging to the rail and crake family Rallidae, and it is closely associated with wetlands and areas containing aquatic vegetation.
The Ruddy-breasted Crake is a resident species in Gujarat according to the State of India’s Birds 2025 assessment. The species has a global conservation status of Least Concern (LC) and is listed under Schedule II of India’s Wildlife Protection Act assessment used by SoIB.
